Applying for the right to use the peer-review label

Publishers engaged in regular scholarly publishing in Finland can apply for the right to use the peer-review label via an online application form.

Who can apply?

Publishers engaged in regular scholarly publishing in Finland are eligible to apply.

Regular publishing activity is demonstrated by:

  • an ISSN assigned to a publication series, or
  • an ISBN registrant element (publisher prefix) assigned to the publisher.

Applying is free of charge and does not require TSV membership.

Before submitting your application

Make sure that:

  • the publication channel’s website includes a description of its peer-review practices
  • the description specifies, at a minimum, the number of reviewers and their independence from the editorial team
  • the publication channel’s peer-review practices meet the terms of use of the peer-review label.

Read the terms of use

You can apply for the right to use the label for:

  • A publication series

If the series has its own ISSN and regularly publishes peer-reviewed articles or books.

  • A book publisher

If the publisher publishes peer-reviewed monographs or edited volumes that are not part of a publication series.

  • Both

If the publisher publishes peer-reviewed works both within and outside publication series, you can apply for the right to use the label for both the series and the publisher as a whole.

Application processing

Applications are processed as quickly as possible, and no later than two months after receipt.
