Scholarly publishing
TSV member societies have access to services for publishing, selling, storing and distributing scholarly journals and books.
Open access publishing services
Journal.fi and Edition.fi are platforms that provide tools for editing and open access publishing of scholarly journals, yearbooks and books. TSV also provides training, instructions and support for using these services.
Journal.fi is intended for journals and yearbooks, and Edition.fi for books. Both services are free of charge for TSV member societies. In addition, member societies using the services receive free DOIs for their journals and articles under a separate agreement.

Sell publications in Bookstore Tiedekirja
Tiedekirja distributes TSV member societies' journals and books from its shop located in Kruununhaka, Helsinki, its webstore and at various events. To sell its publications, the society concludes a distribution agreement with Tiedekirja.
The society determines the prices of its publications itself. Tiedekirja takes care of selling and marketing the publications and remits 85% of the sales price to the publisher.
Individual members of member societies are also entitled to a discount granted to their society on products sold by Tiedekirja. Currently, you can make use of the discount by visiting Tiedekirja shop or by contacting Tiedekirja staff.
See Tiedekirja website for the Bookstore's contact details
Membership fee includes storage of publications
A TSV member society can store its publications in the publication warehouse once it has concluded a storage contract and paid its annual membership fee. No separate fee is charged for storage. The publication warehouse also offers printing and mailing services subject to a charge as well as packages and dispatches publications sold through Tiedekirja.

Participate in international publication exchange with your society’s publications
If you conclude an exchange agreement, your publications can be sent to international partners and for reviewing. TSV's Exchange Centre for Scientific Literature sends out the publications and makes the other practical arrangements for the exchange. The Exchange Centre also carries the costs of the exchange activities, which means that the service is mainly free for member societies.

Use the web services
TSV offers member societies homepage space on its servers located in Finland and services associated with it, including email and domain name services. We also offer maintained publishing systems and website design, implementation and maintenance services for societies’ needs.
Participation and advocacy
Member society representatives can influence TSV's decision-making by participating in the Federation's meetings and by being active in TSV's Board and other positions of trust. Representatives of our member societies can also join certain working groups coordinated by TSV which, for example, work on and develop the research community's common policies or new practices.
Member societies can additionally showcase their fields of science and expertise by proposing programme items for the Science Forum and the Night of Science, which are some of Finland’s best-known science events. The Night of Science in the House of Science and Letters, which is one of the largest events of the Night of Science, relies entirely on content produced by scientific societies.
Apply for a grant to support a scientific society's activities
TSV supports scientific societies by disbursing grants provided by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Grants are awarded for scientific societies' publishing and international activities as well as for organising conferences. You do not have to be a TSV member to apply for a grant.
