What is the JUFO portal for?
The JUFO portal is intended for researchers, research organisations and other members of the academic community. In this service you can:
- search for publication channels
- view the Publication Forum's classification levels
- read information on publication channels
- download search results as a CSV file
- propose new publication channels
- propose changes to the classification levels or publication channel information.
The JUFO portal enables researchers to make use of responsible and sustainable opportunities for open access publishing. The portal provides information on the openness, parallel publishing and licences of scholarly journals and publication series obtained from a number of international sources. In addition, you can see the information of a publication channel to check if it falls within the scope of the open access publishing agreements of the FinELib library consortium.
Logging in
You can search for publication channels without logging in. To submit proposals you need an Eduuni ID. If you do not already have one, you can create one when you first log in.
After logging in you can:
- propose the addition of a new publication channel
- propose a change to a publication channel’s level
- report an error or supplement the information of a publication channel.
The JUFO portal and publication channel database are maintained by the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies and CSC – IT Center for Science.
Publication channel search
For example, you can search for publication channels by name, ISSN or ISBN, conference name or JufoID. You can filter your searches, for instance by classification level, field of science, publication type, open access or country of publication. You can download the search results in CSV format for further processing.
Publication channel information
For each publication channel, you can find the basic information, the Publication Forum’s classification level, assessment history, field of science classifications and information about open access. The portal also contains links to such as the publication channel's website, the Open policy finder service and Research.fi.
The information in the JUFO portal comes from the publication channel database maintained by the Publication Forum's Secretariat. This database supports organisations' publication data collections and helps ensure the quality of the publication data collected by the Ministry of Education and Culture in the National Research Information Hub.
