Linjauslouhi is an open-source database designed to assist the implementation of national open science policies.

The policies in the database are uptodate. New content is forthcoming, e.g. the national recommendations supporting the policies will be added.

The Policy for Open scholarship brings together the previous policies and recommendations made within the framework of the Open science and research coordination. The policy focuses on the culture of open scholarship of an organisation. In addition, previous policies will be supplemented with perspectives related to services, incentives, and interaction.

Open Access to Scholarly Publications

The Policy for open access to scholarly publications defines the principles, objectives and measures to which by committing and promoting the research community in Finland can achieve equal access to researched information. The policy is applicable in all disciplines and in various research organisations. The efforts of independent organisations to increase open access are supported by policy measures and principles.

Open Research Data and Methods

The policy for open access to research data and methods consists of strategic principles common to the entire policy and two policy components in which objectives and actions are set out for each area. The strategic principles describe general preconditions for the pursuit of open access to research data and methods. They formulate principles that are important for the research community and must be adhered to when implementing openness.

Open Education and Open Educational Resources

National policy on Open education and educational resources elaborates the objective defined in the Declaration for open science and research that creating, using and joint development of open educational resources and other open educational practices are part of daily work in higher education and enable continuous learning.

In this policy, culture of open scholarship refers to the working environment and methods of science and research.

Opening up education or Open Education means extending access to and participation in education to larger audiences and target groups by lowering barriers to education and increasing accessibility, unrestrictedness, offering and learner-centeredness. It diversifies the possibilities of teaching, learning and building, joint development and sharing of knowledge and combines the pathways of formal and nonformal learning. Although open education is often carried out using digital technologies, open education is not the same as digital education or digitalisation of educational resources.
